안녕하세요!
Annyeonghaseyo!
Winter in Korea is a wonderful season filled with warm food, meaningful traditions, and time with family and friends.
It’s also a great time to continue learning Korean!
Before exploring our December and January class schedules, let’s discover two interesting Korean winter traditions.
🇰🇷 Two Korean Winter Cultural Insights
🍠 1. Korean Winter Street Foods
During the cold winter months, many Koreans enjoy warm street foods such as:
- 붕어빵 (Bungeoppang) — Fish-shaped pastries often filled with sweet red bean paste.
- 호떡 (Hotteok) — Sweet Korean pancakes with fillings such as brown sugar and cinnamon.
- 군고구마 (Gun-goguma) — Warm roasted sweet potatoes.
Imagine enjoying freshly made 호떡 on a cold winter day!
You might say:
맛있어요!
Masisseoyo!
It’s delicious!
🎍 2. Seollal — Korean Lunar New Year
설날 (Seollal) is one of Korea’s most important traditional holidays, usually celebrated in January or February.
Families gather, share traditional foods such as 떡국 (tteokguk, rice cake soup), and exchange New Year greetings.
A common expression is:
새해 복 많이 받으세요!
Saehae bok mani badeuseyo!
Wishing you lots of good fortune in the new year!
Learning these expressions is a wonderful way to connect Korean language and culture.
