Hello, my name is Suebeet Kim, and I am a professional Korean language instructor, Korean dialect coach, and translator specializing in scripts and professional documents. Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, I hold a B.A. in Global Studies from Northwestern.
Since 2005, I have dedicated my career to helping learners of all ages and backgrounds gain confidence in their Korean language skills. Over the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of teaching K–12 students, as well as students at universities and colleges. I have also trained professionals at global companies and organizations, including Riot Games and other multinational corporations. My instruction spans beginner fundamentals through advanced proficiency, with a strong focus on business communication, academic support, and cultural fluency.
In addition to language instruction, I have worked professionally as a Korean dialect coach and script translator for Hollywood television and film productions. I have also provided professional Korean translation services for large companies, corporate groups, and organizations, supporting projects that require linguistic accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and natural, authentic Korean expression.
Alongside my work with adults and professionals, I am deeply passionate about helping children discover the joy of learning Korean. I design engaging, age-appropriate lessons that make language study both effective and enjoyable, while building a strong foundation for long-term success.
I am also the author of the Focus Korean textbook series, which has been widely adopted by learners around the world and is a popular resource on Amazon. These books are designed to guide students step by step through structured lessons, practical examples, and meaningful cultural insights.
My teaching and language approach is highly personalized. I create strategies that adapt to each learner’s goals—whether mastering everyday conversation, excelling academically, delivering professional communication, or preparing Korean dialogue for screen and performance. I believe repetition is essential to language acquisition, and I integrate consistent practice in a way that remains engaging, motivating, and effective. I also encourage cultural exploration, as immersion deepens both fluency and appreciation of the Korean language.
