Hello, my name is Suebeet Kim, and I am a private Korean language tutor. Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, I hold a B.A. in Global Studies from Northwestern.
Since 2005, I have dedicated my career to helping learners of all ages and backgrounds gain confidence in their Korean language skills. Over the past 19 years, I have had the privilege of teaching K–12 and college students as well as professionals at global companies. My instruction covers everything from beginner fundamentals to advanced proficiency, with a focus on business communication, academic support, and cultural fluency.
In addition to teaching adults, I am passionate about helping children discover the joy of learning Korean. I design engaging lessons that make language study both effective and fun, laying a strong foundation for long-term success.
I am also the author of the Focus Korean textbook series, which has been widely adopted by learners around the world and is a popular resource on Amazon. These books are designed to guide students step by step with structured lessons, practical examples, and cultural insights.
My teaching approach is highly personalized—I create strategies that adapt to each student’s goals, whether that means mastering everyday conversations, excelling in academics, or advancing in a professional setting. I believe repetition is essential to learning, and I integrate consistent practice in a way that keeps lessons engaging, motivating, and enjoyable. I also encourage my students to explore Korean culture firsthand, as immersion can deepen both fluency and appreciation of the language.
